Hole in the Wall lighthouse was built in 1836 by the British Imperial Lighthouse Service, it is168 feet tall and located fifty five miles south of Marsh Harbour. It was automated in 1995.

This lighthouse was one of four which Alton painted as a group which later appeared as Bahamian postage stamps.
