Built around 1863 of Abaco Pine

Built around 1863 from native Abaco pine, this historic structure is believed to be the last surviving two-story Conch house in the Abacos. Many other homes of similar design were dismantled and relocated to Key West during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The house survived the devastating 1932 hurricane, although not without incident. A neighboring house was blown from its foundation and hurled into the Roberts home, reportedly shifting it nearly two feet on its base.
Captain Roberts, for whom the house is named, captained the M.V. Priscilla, the first motorized mail boat in the Abacos. Over the years, the building has served many purposes, including as a family residence, a school, and an environmental center, making it an enduring landmark in the history of Green Turtle Cay.
