Reverend Charles C. Curry was born at New Plymouth in 1915. Both his father, R. Bruce Curry, and his mother, Branhilda Sawyer, were descendants of the earliest settlers to these islands. Mr. Curry received his early education at the Green Turtle Cay Public School, the Married Enid Moncur in Nassau in April of 1938. In July 1959, Charles Curry was ordained into the Methodist Ministry at Trinity Church. Islands graced by his ministry were Andros, Cat, Acklins, Inagua, Exuma, Jamaica, Eleuthera, and Nassau. In July 1978 the Reverend Mister Curry was inducted into the office of Chairman and General Superintendent of the Methodist Church. He was the first Bahamian to be so honoured.
