Mid 19th Century Jail

The original Green Turtle Cay jail, built in the mid-nineteenth century, was a two-story structure that served the community for many decades. During the devastating hurricane of 1932, the building suffered severe damage, and its upper story was destroyed. The second level was never rebuilt, leaving a famous “stairway to nowhere”.
