Fast‑forward from last summer to the present, and Alton Lowe’s longtime associate at the Museum, Mr. Freddy Sawyer—assisted by Fritz—has at last been able to return after two years devoted to rebuilding his home and family business. Their progress is already significant: primer has been applied throughout, and the walls that were once wallpapered but destroyed during Hurricane Dorian will now be finished in white. Archival photographs from 1976 confirm that the Museum originally appeared entirely white, making this restoration both appropriate and historically aligned.

Although we continue to await the carpenters’ return to rebuild the porches, it is encouraging to see the doors open and restoration work underway once again. Sincere and grateful appreciation is extended to all who have contributed to the preservation of this cultural landmark.
