Roof Repairs

Thanks to several very kind donations, Audley Russell and his crew have begun repairing the roof today! Local roofers have been overwhelmed since the storms, but these super guys from the mainland found a way to fit us in.

It has been a very long haul over the past 13 months — dealing with buckets of water inside, tarps blowing off outside, and losing volunteers in the aftermath of Dorian and the pandemic. Today feels like a true turning point.

We are deeply grateful to finally take this first step in restoring the iconic 42‑year‑old Museum — housed in a building nearly 200 years old and proudly known as the first museum in the Bahamas.

This repair marks the beginning of bringing this historic treasure back to the condition it deserves.
